Auto-immune diseases include, but are not confined to Osteo-arthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, also the rarer forms of arthritis e.g. Reiter’s, Behcet’s and Sjogrens Syndromes, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Psoratic Arthritis, migraine and cluster headaches, Carpel Tunnel Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, M.E. (Chronic Fatigue syndrome) Lupus, Myasthenia Gravis, Multiple Sclerosis, and Asthma. Many other chronic health disorders are increasingly being recognized as having an auto-immune component, including diseases traditionally recognized as ‘degenerative’ such as Alzheimer’s and circulatory disorders. The therapeutic protocol discussed below is wholistic, meaning that it tends to bring health into balance, provide the nutrients to boost health and help overcome disease whether an auto-immune disorder is involved or not. However the particular issues involved in auto-immune disorders are discussed specifically. Auto Immune Disorders & Infection There is overwhelming evidence that the majority of auto-immune disorders have as part of their cause some type of infection. This can be viral, bacterial, fungal, protozoa and various other types of parasites. Most persons suffering from chronic auto-immune disorders are suffering from Candida Albicans overgrowth and quite probably other infections that affect the state of ill health. T Cells & B Cells Auto-immune disorders are a state where the immune system is unbalanced. One half - the T cells (cellular immunity) are under active and the other half - B cells (humoral immunity) are overactive/overproduced. It is thought that this is partly due to the constant irritation of encumbering infection(s) that are not successfully dealt with. The B immune cells then attack a particular part(s) of the body, for example if you have an asthma tendency then the lungs and adrenals become involved, with arthritis the joints are effected, with M.S particular parts of the brain and myelin sheaf of the nerves, with bowel disorders such as Chron’s and ulcerative colitis the bowel is the main area under attack and so on. B Cells & Toxins This self attack (by B cells) is also engendered/related to internal toximea such as toxins released from the infections themselves, pesticides and industrial pollutants, smoking and the build up of muco-protein (mucus) throughout the body, (this is caused by inadequate protein digesting enzyme secretion / eating cooked food that is enzyme-less). Vaccinations are increasingly implicated in establishing the basis of the malfunctioning immune system due to stimulus of the B cell wing of the immune system and the suppression of the T cell wing. This results in overactivity of the humoral (outside the cells) side and underactivity of the cellular side. The issue of immune system inbalance is discussed more fully in the article on Sterols and Sterolins. B Cells & Nutritional Deficiencies Sterols and Sterolins are types of vegetable fats contained in seeds, legumes and vegetable fibres. These have been found to have a consistently successful effect on balancing the immune system. By enhancing T cell production they help eliminate chronic infection that is partly responsible for disease, they also calm down/reduce B cell pre-dominance helping to turn off the auto-immune situation. You can grow your own Sterols and Sterolins at home by sprouting Essential Fatty Acids It is well established that deficiency is widespread and that the balance of Omega 3, 6, 9 is often wanting. One of the functions of essential fatty acids is to help reduce inflammation. Excess inflammation always occurs in auto-immune disorders. Essential fatty acids are also required for cell membrane health. For example consuming heated vegetable oils, processed oils such as found in margarine and much processed food creates Trans-fats these harden not only in the major blood vessels but also around every cell in the body, reducing the passage of nutrients and oxygen into the cells and toxins out. Fats and oils must be consumed raw and also unpasteurised to have health benefits. Examples are fish oil, linseed oil, Hemp Oil (the most balanced oil as regards a balance of all the omegas). From the animal kingdom the fats in Raw Eggs are also useful. All these fats in raw form will help to clear out hardened fats and lubricate the cell membranes. Enzymes Digestive Enzymes When we eat cooked food the valuable ‘live’ enzymes in the food are killed. We cannot digest food and pass the nutrients to the cells without enzymes, so when we eat cooked food our body has to produce its own enzymes. This drains our vitality and health and as we age we fail to produce enough enzymes. This process is fundamental to all degenerative disease, including auto-immune disorder. Even before we develop a chronic health problem, eating cooked food begins to burden our colon and tissues with undigested muco-protein, this helps to set up the basis for inflammation and an auto-immune response. For every meal you eat cooked it is wise to take a Digestive Enzyme to stop further deterioration and improve food digestion and assimilation. However years of accumulation of partially digested proteins, the process of internal fibrosis (stiffening of connective tissue) is part of the problem of health deterioration along side inflammation and the build up of muco-protein. Respiratory And Mitochondrial Enzymes These are difficult to obtain in the diet, some is contained in raw beetroot juice for example. In most cases shop bought juices have been pasteurized so are unsuitable in this respect. These enzymes are contained in Zell-Oxygen. This live cell specially bred saccharomyces cerevisaie yeast and contains many nutrients in live cell form including specialized enzymes that restore healthy cellular respiration and general cellular energy turnover. This has a fundamental and immediate effect in improving many metabolic functions, the whole organism begins to operate more efficiently. Mitocondrial D.N.A. is damaged more easily that nuclear D.N.A., so for example virus and other toxins can inactivate proper mitochondrial function and hence cellular respiration, and energy production of the cell. The enzymes present in the specialized living saccharomyces cerevisaie cells that are grown in a high oxygen environment, rapidly resolve this problem. Trace Element Deficiency Various nutritional deficiencies such as mineral and trace element deficiency are caused by lack in the soil, storage, processing, cooking, and finally, poor absorption due to below par digestive system related to a cooked food diet and intestinal wall coated with muco-protein. These nutritional deficiencies can be remedied partly by improved diet and cooking methods or preferably eating mainly raw food. Full spectrum salts are essential to maintain health, whereas refined salt has some toxicity. The tragedy is that salt is being given a bad name by health campaigns, but without it our health can be seriously effected. This error in information has come about because of the failure to differentiate between full spectrum sea salt such as Celtic Sea Salt and refined salt. The most balanced form of full spectrum salts is sea water and our Ionic minerals provide a pure concentrated form of this. Inland sea water concentrate from Utah. Contains over 84 minerals & trace elements, helps to integrate all other remedies. Can help to normalize blood pressure, balance mood and energy and hydrate the body. Extra Measures The problem is knowledge concerning each individual - how do we know if we need to take anti-infective agents or not to gain the best possible health and freedom from our particular health disorder(s). The good news is that there are very potent natural ‘antiseptics’ available that do not have harmful side effects, in fact they have beneficial side effects or a tonic action separate from their anti-infective action. These broad-spectrum anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-parasitical remedies will not wipe out the beneficial bacteria. One is free to experiment with these products as an adjunct to the basic therapy and supplements discussed in this article. How Long Before An Improvement Can Be Expected? This depends very much on the length of time you have had the condition (but not necessarily the severity) and your individual health profile such as the amount of internal toxemia, organ degeneration etc. Some individuals will start to improve within about a week, typical cases should begin to improve in about a month. Cases with complications, such as rheumatoid and osteo-arthritis will take longer due to damage of the joints, however the disease will often stop progressing within a week or so. These issues are affected by the quality of the diet, the existence of ongoing stress and the amount of rest, sleep and exercise. Once improvement has set in, it is vital to continue with the main thrust of the programme to remain at optimum health. Instructions For Growing Seed, Grain, Alfalfa And Mung Sprouts Method 1 - Soak seeds in pure water (not tap water, use bottled or filtered tap water) for about 8 hours, although 3 hours is enough for alfalfa. Drain and rinse, again in pure water. Keep slightly moist and rinse twice daily until ready for harvesting. This can be done in a jar with a piece of material such as net- curtain material held to top of jar with elastic band, so that after immersing the seeds the jar may be inverted and all the water allowed to drain off. Method 2 - For the ‘professional’ sprout grower. This method is easier and more convenient. Using the Hemp Bag, simply fill it about one third full with the selected seed. Leave in a bowl of pure water such as filtered or bottled water for the required time. Hang bag from its string over a bowl. Twice daily, or more frequently in very hot conditions and especially with small seeds such as alfalfa to avoid stagnation, drying out or mould, put the bag into a bowl of fresh pure water, leave for a minute or two, then re- hang. As the seeds grow the bag expands to accommodate the larger space required. This method is the best as it ensures an adequate air supply to all the seeds and avoids pooling of water avoiding rot. It is also far more convenient. The shoots may be stored in the bag, or a covered bowl in the refrigerator when grown and kept for up to 2 weeks. Alfalfa should be grown until the first leaves appear, generally around day 7, allowing a little light for the last 2 to 3 days will help to form a healthy green leaf, if using a sprout bag, open the top to allow light in during this period. Mung beans should also be grown until their first leaves appear. The reason for not harvesting earlier, is that Alfalfa sprouts are a wonderful, healthy, biogenic food, yet alfalfa sprouts and possibly Mung beans eaten in excess and before they are mature, contain a small percentage of an amino acid analog called Canavanine. There have been some reports that this has aggravated symptoms of persons with Lupis. The shoots may be eaten as they are (do not cook them this will destroy most of the goodness!). You can add what you like to them such as olive oil and lemon for a salad. You can also juice or liquidise them for a drink, adding liquid as required for the liquidising process. You may want to use this method just to obtain your daily dose of wonderful nutrients from them, especially the sterolins and sterols. Why a Hemp Bag? People often assume sprouts are best grown in jars. Indeed, in the hands of a diligent gardener, jars can successfully grow several varieties of sprouts. But jars were never designed for sprouting. Their popularity has more to do with their wide availability and free cost than with their merits as a gardening tool. Any serious sprout grower will soon run into the many limitations of jars as sprouting devices. While there are other types of sprouters available with different features, the sprout bag is a perfect substitution for the jar, with several advantages.
